The Muppets first appeared on screen in the 1950’s on the Sam and Friends TV Show in the US. In the 1970’s, after a few television appearances, the Muppets have become truly popular – celebrities in their own right. Their first TV show was launched in 1976 and they have been participating in theatrical and other media activities since then, including presenting at the Academy Awards and the Emmy Awards! And now, in the year 2014, the Muppets are introducing a full feature film that is sure to blow your mind!
The Muppets are going on a worldwide tour! They hire new agent Dominic Badguy (Ricky Gervais) to help them with their career and their future. No stereotypes by surname – it’s French! But, suspiciously, and unaware of their own involvement, the Muppets appear to be involved in a criminal thief affair lead by evil frog Constantine. Ok, this is already getting pretty interesting, and we know it’s going to be hilarious. BUT, this criminal, who is claimed to be the #1 most dangerous criminal in the world, is an exact copy of Kermit the Frog, just with a mole. And of course nobody can recognize ANY difference whatsoever between the American friendly frog and the Russian incredibly suspicious and rude Constantine.
Along with the hysterically ridiculous yet funny plot, Muppets: Most Wanted has an amazing list of guests that feature in a few episodes, including: Ty Burell, Tina Fey, Tony Bennett, Sean Combs, Céline Dion, Lady Gaga, Tom Hiddleston, Salma Hayek, Zach Galfianakis and many others! Tina Fey (as Nadya) is the pearl of this movie. Tina is Tina. Hilarious as always, but flipping sexy! I must say, her Russian accent is pretty convincing! But come on Tina, falling in love with Kermit? Don’t stand in Miss Piggy’s way…
There are so many jokes that keep you laughing throughout the whole movie. And even though they seem amazingly obvious, they are not boring or typical at all. On the contrary, everything seems very much unusual, bright and energetic. And hey, don’t think if they are puppets this movie is only for kids – no, no! This is a story for everyone! No matter if you want to come with your family, your boyfriend/girlfriend or with your fluffy bear, it’s a cheerful and colourful movie for all of you out there.
I enjoyed this movie and give it a 7 out of 10! Why did I enjoy it so much? Because it places an emphasis on such clichéd situations in a really amusing manner. And because of that, it’s even funnier. Simple as that! Tasty and energetic! Très bien!
